Daniel Gehring: A Biography
Biography
A mind for innovation, an eye for detail and a passion for nature -- that’s what drives Daniel Gehring. A master craftsman and AIA architect, Daniel has deep experience in everything from site selection and clearing to sourcing and milling lumber, all the way through the design, build and finishing. Daniel believes that rather than taking on a client, he should guide a client on a journey. His process is open and collaborative, ensuring that his clients’ needs are met and that their dreams become reality. From classical to modern, his work often employs locally sourced and sustainable materials, and he remains committed to net-zero and energy-efficient building.
A native of Wilmington, Vermont, Daniel earned his bachelor’s and master’s in architecture at Judson University in Illinois before training in New York City with DF Gibson and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill -- one of the largest and most influential architectural firms in the world. In pursuing his licensure he had the opportunity to help create skyscrapers in Manhattan, as well as industrial refineries in the Middle East. Since returning to the Deerfield Valley he has taken on numerous residential and commercial projects that feature exquisite timber framing, finish carpentry and metal work. Today Daniel lives in an intentional community and enjoys a country lifestyle of gardening, bee-keeping, woodworking, forest management, custom saw-milling, and best of all raising he six year old son Orin.
Daniel has worked on some of the most iconic American architecture projects with giants such as SOM in New York City.
